The National Eisteddfod 2017

For anybody staying at North Wales’ self-catering Anglesey based holiday homes this year, who may be interested in a fantastic week full of family activities and all-around fun, the National Eisteddfod 2017 will find its home in Anglesey.

The world famous Welsh festival that celebrates the culture and language in Wales attracts nearly 150,000 visitors every single year, with over 250 stalls and stands for traders. The event will take place at The Maes near the village of Bodedern from the 4th August to the 12th August.

Every year the National Eisteddfod travels from location to location, moving to towns and cities between North and South Wales. There are traces of the festival within Welsh history dating as far back as 1861, with official records dating back to 1861.

The festival is traditionally host to various competitions with 6,000 competitors in attendance every single year, and remains the primary focus of the festival, but has expanded and evolved over the many years to accommodate multiple events and activities for the whole family to get involved with and enjoy.

The Eisteddfod does a fantastic job of showcasing all of the art and culture that Wales has to offer; broadcasting music, dancing, visual artistry, literature, language and much more to the world. Translation services are available to attract and accommodate Welsh learners and non-Welsh speakers to the event, with bilingual information on hand.

Different parts of Wales are brought together each and every year to be part of a community project; preparing the festival with the assistance of people of all ages and nationalities, for a vast majority of Wales’ renowned musicians, poets and writers to take to the National Stage and compete in the Eisteddfod.

Tickets are already on sale, with prices varying between single concerts and full week passes. So don’t hesitate and book your Eisteddfod experience in advance.
